International Women’s Day at Assemble

March 8, 2019

At Assemble we‘re lucky to work with an incredible team of hardworking women who inspire us daily. On International Women’s Day 2019 we asked all our female colleagues ‘What advice would you give to your younger self?’.

“Be yourself, trust your gut & find a professional mentor (who is female) –many of my role-models growing up (managers, coaches etc) were all men & I wasn’t lucky enough to have an incredible female boss until I was around 26 years old, but I certainly could have done with her wisdom & guidance a lot earlier in my life!”

Abbie Freestone
Head of Community

“If you feel like the smartest person in the room, you’re in the wrong room. Find a work environment that challenges you every day, and inspires you to be as accomplished as your colleagues”

Jana Perkovic
Editor of Assemble Papers

“You’ve got this”

Elissa Loh-Brown

“Always reach out to anyone you admire or are in a position you would like to be in one day to go get coffee – ask questions, listen and tell your story too”

Caitlin Shannon

“You only live one life so don’t be afraid to take chances, follow your passions, stand-up for what you believe in, be kind to yourself and the people around you and learn from your mistakes”

Alannah Manuk

“Don’t ever be afraid to let your true personality shine! You’ll always rewarded for it… also, one day when you’re in your 30s, you’ll learn the joy of not having Friday night plans”

Robyn Lukstin
