Stakeholder Engagement and Communications Manager

We are looking for an exceptional Stakeholder Engagement and Communications Manager to join our Community Team and lead the development, management, and implementation of our Stakeholder Engagement approach, across Assemble’s portfolio with a focus on new projects in Brunswick, Coburg and Footscray.

The role will suit an organised and solutions focused person with strong communication skills. They will be required to undertake research about communities and gather information from internal experts to understand the stakeholders that may be impacted by, and influence Assemble projects. The preferred candidate will be able to develop genuine and respectful relationships with a variety of stakeholders and be able to communicate complex project information in a clear and easy-to-understand manner.

They will draw on their background in stakeholder engagement, communications, and event management to ensure that stakeholders and communities associated with proposed Assemble projects are engaged early, are well informed, and are given the opportunity to provide meaningful feedback that the design and construction teams can utilise.

The candidate will report to the Head of Impact and Engagement to develop and implement strategies and work closely with other team members including the Head of Urban Design, Project Managers, and the Community Engagement Manager.

The role:

This position is a fixed term one year contract with the potential for extension.

Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Developing and Stakeholder Engagement Plans to ensure timely, tailored, and meaningful approaches to engagement.
  • Developing communications materials including presentations, letters, information session resources and website content
  • Responding to enquiries about our projects in a timely manner adopting the Assemble tone of voice
  • Coordinating community information sessions
  • Developing internal support materials including FAQs, key messages, and event plans
  • Organising and leading meetings with relevant stakeholders
  • Meeting, briefing, and communicating with project partners
  • Engaging and building genuine connections with stakeholders such as community groups and local councils
  • Recording and reporting on engagement activities
  • Providing strategic insight such as risk assessments and opportunity identification
  • Assessing project risks and tailoring the engagement approach accordingly

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Communications or other relevant field
  • At least 5 years’ experience in the Stakeholder Engagement and Communications or another relevant field.
  • Worked in the built environment and have an awareness of the nuanced approach required for engaging diverse stakeholders.

Competencies:

  • Strong verbal and written communication and skills, including the ability to explain complex technical information to a non-technical audience
  • Ability to write strategies and plans
  • Confidence and experience in meeting facilitation
  • Confidence and experience in event management
  • Ability to manage budgets and deadlines
  • Cultural competency and ability to develop respectful relationships with people from a wide range of cultural and social backgrounds
  • Ability to identify and implement opportunities to improve the stakeholder engagement approach
  • Confidence and experience in report writing
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information
  • Understanding of project management software principles
  • Ability to coordinate an interdisciplinary team when required
