Rob Moffatt joins as Project Director

June 28, 2021

Joining our Design & Construct team is Rob Moffatt as Project Director. We sat down with Rob who shared his thoughts on joining the team and ensuring sustainability is at the fore in the design delivery of our future key projects.

Why did you decide to join the Assemble team?

I am passionate about delivering projects that resonate with occupants and the greater public. Assemble is creating some incredible spaces across Melbourne and it is exciting to be a part of that.

With housing affordability an ever-present concern in Australia, I am proud that my work will be focused on the underserved low-to-moderate income segment of the property market. We will work to deliver this as either a path to homeownership through our innovative Assemble Futures housing model, or secure tenure affordable rental housing which will soon be available through our Build to Rent portfolio.

I have always loved working with highly motivated teams. I am most looking forward to collaborating with our diverse team to develop and implement exceptional project delivery systems to support the creation of our future communities.

What do you wish to bring to the team?

I am keen to bring my experience from the United Kingdom (UK) to help build our experience in sustainable building practices. This is a very developed area in the UK, and I was lucky enough to have worked alongside some dedicated and knowledgeable people who have really pushed the boundaries in construction-phase sustainability.

I am also passionate about building better and keen to impart my extensive experience delivering projects using modern methods of construction, in particular where major sub-assemblies of the building are manufactured in factories offsite, to create safer and more efficient buildings.

I will be looking for opportunities to employ a Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) approach to our work to ensure we build as efficiently and sustainably as possible.

Where can we find you when you’re not at Assemble HQ?

I love spending time with my wife and two daughters travelling to new places and meeting new people. We have been lucky enough to spend the last seven years in the UK, Europe and the Middle East. I am really excited about being able to discover more places in Australia and New Zealand over the coming years.
